I currently work with the title of Specialist Health Visitor (Mental Health). Here at bababoom my role is to provide support to couples or individuals dealing with anxiety or depression for reasons ranging from relationship issues, antenatal/postnatal depression, bereavement and many more. My aim is provide a flexible service to support you through this life changing time and help you develop coping mechanisms to enhance this journey.

My role as a specialist health visitor is to provide psychological interventions for parents (with preschool children) who have mental health problems, to promote and support them in their parenting. In reality the majority of my clients are mothers who are clinically depressed often within the perinatal period.

The publication of the NICE guidance on antenatal and postnatal mental health (DOH 2007)has done much to bring the attention of commissioners to needs of this client group, but the availability of coherent and equitable services are still a long way off. The establishment of children’s centres has increased resources, but the quality of the services provided is still erratic. The introduction of the ‘iapt’ programme (improving access to psychological therapies) will for some make psychological therapy more accessible, but it will be based on a CBT model, which for many may not fit.

Each session is 1 hour long and costs £50, £8 of which is payable to bababoom at booking and the remaining fee to myself in cash or cheque. Bababoom has a 24hour cancellation fee, if you cancel with less than 24hours notice your deposit will be lost.
