Osteopathy in Pregnancy
Treatments
Many expectant mum’s don’t realise there is help available to help ease their musculoskeletal aches and pains during and after pregnancy. The most prevalent pain experienced during pregnancy is SPD (also PSD) – Symphysis Pubis Disorder/Dysfunction which can be debilitating but osteopathic techniques offer considerable relief from this.
Osteopathic techniques used for pregnant ladies are safe and gentle and the unborn child is never placed under any pressure or undue risk. Due to the increased elasticity of your ligament during pregnancy (and for a period of time following pregnancy), pregnant mum’s tend to respond very well and quickly to treatment. Quite often your back or pelvic pains don’t disappear following the birth, so Osteopathy is very effective in helping “rebalance” post pregnancy too.
Osteopaths undergo extensive training and have a highly developed sense of touch and palpation skills which allows us to identify any areas of weakness or excessive strain throughout the body.
We work with our hands and use a wide variety of treatment techniques, rhythmic passive joint mobilisation or high velocity thrust techniques designed to improve mobility and the range of movement of a joint.
We are not only concerned with alleviating a patients' pain and other symptoms but also with trying to prevent problems recurring.
The cost of a one hour osteopathy session is £35.50. Prices are inclusive of Bababoom's £8.00 booking fee which is payable at the time of booking. The remainder of the amount is payable to Tammy on the day in cash or cheque. There is a 48 hour cancellation charge of £8.00
